Dan Belzer

Dan Belzer enjoys a diverse career as an actor, singer, pianist, composer and teacher. He has music directed and conducted numerous musicals at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, including Steel Pier, Hair, Rent, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, Bat Boy, Anything Goes, Hot Mikado, Pippin, Side Show, Carousel and Urinetown in addition to teaching numerous music courses and group and private singing. For the Getty Center’s production of The Swallow Song, he served as music director of the chorus, comprised of students from the Department of Theater.
Belzer has toured Europe on more than 20 occasions as a pianist and singer, performing in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy, France and Czech Republic. He has served as music director, pianist and conductor in many Los Angeles-area theaters, working on such shows as A Little Night Music; Urinetown; Oliver; The Sound of Music; Annie Get Your Gun, Ernest in Love and countless benefits, recitals, concerts and cabaret performances. Additional music direction includes Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theatre Program J&E and the Zig-Zag Sea and productions of Anything Goes, Hair and Oklahoma at Glendale Community College.
Since 2008, he has utilized his skills as an actor, singer and pianist in his portrayal of the legendary American songwriter Irving Berlin in the one-man show A Songwriting Lesson from Irving Berlin for the educational nonprofit Enrichment Works, performing to thousands of students throughout the Los Angeles area and across the United States. He has appeared in film and television, working with Academy Award-winning directors John Carpenter and Dean Parisot, and has been seen in dozens of national commercials and print campaigns.
Clients from his private voice studio have appeared on Broadway and in national tours including Hamilton, Anastasia, Mamma Mia!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jesus Christ Superstar, High Fidelity, Hairspray, La Cage Aux Folles, The Cher Show, Donna Summer the Musical and Peter Pan.
The album Living in the Light, comprised of Belzer’s original songs and released in 2020, is available on many platforms including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, iTunes, ReverbNation, Deezer and YouTube.
He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Local 47 Musician’s Union, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
